20 Fun Recycled Egg Carton Crafts for Kids

I don’t know about you, but our family uses A LOT of eggs.  Thankfully, we have a flock of hens that provide fresh eggs every morning for us.  To collect and store all those eggs, I purchase empty egg cartons and gather recycled egg cartons from friends and family.  After a few uses though, they are ready to be recycled or thrown out (which I hate having to do).  But if I can find a way to give them even a few extra lives before they hit the recycling bin, then I’m happy!

Ways to Get Egg Cartons

If you don’t use a lot of eggs at your house, you might not have the egg cartons needed for some of these crafts. Here are a few ways to collect egg cartons for these activities:

Check With Your Neighbors

Depending on the area you live, you may have neighbors who raise backyard chickens. Ask around as they may discard egg cartons after they’ve been used a few times. They may even have a huge stash and wouldn’t mind sharing a few for your egg carton crafts.

Ask Local Restaurants

We usually ask local restaurants for their egg cartons if we are running low. While many end up having the large 18 or 36 count cartons, those will still work well for most of these crafts.

Order Empty Egg Cartons

As a last resort, if you’re really wanting to complete some of these crafts, you can always order empty egg cartons. While this isn’t the most cost-effective way to get the supplies, it might be the easiest and the cleanest.
